orwell and identity

In my daily life I like to write poems that express my feelings. I always find writing comforting whether I am having a great day or a horrible day. I am also currently writing a fiction book. The book will be called "And So She Fell In Love With a Girl". I decided that I wanted to write a book based on my experience. Ever since I was old enough to read and write I would write my thoughts on paper, I have always found that easier then expressing my feelings verbally.

The purpose of writing ,in my opinion, is to express feelings and pass information on to the future. Important information that we read about in school. If we didn't have anyone to write down things that have happened in the past, we would all be asking questions like " how did we get here?" or " how did America become America?" I also feel that writing is necessary to relay messages daily. If we lost our electricity we would need to communicate through newspapers or letters.

I find writing stories interesting. I love to write them because I love to make people feel the story. I am always descriptive when I write. My favorite thing about writing is when the reader tells me how they could feel what the character was feeling.

Unit Zero

For years I have had to deal with the name Jennifer Peacock. Jennifer has never really been a bother to me. All throughout elementary and middle school I was always made fun of for having the last name Peacock. I never really understood what people were making fun of. I just thought Peacock was just a bird. What they were saying didn’t make any sense to me until I was in high school. By that time I was old enough to realize that everyone gets made fun of for something. So it didn’t bother me as much. When I started working at Dicks Dock Bar in 2007, Peacock became my name. So from then on I introduce myself as Peacock in the bar atmosphere. When it comes down to it, yes I like my name.

My first name really doesn’t have a special meaning to anyone. My last name is special to me because my father passed away seventeen years ago, and I feel like I am carrying on his name by keeping it. My father picked out my name. My mom tells me he named me after his first grade crush. I really don’t have any nick names, unless you consider Peacock a nick name.

The name Peacock derives from the pre 17th century word “Peacocc” meaning literally a peacock. Peacock which is also recorded as Peacock, Pocock, Peacocke, Peecock and pacock was an early English surname. Originally, Peacock was an occupational name for a breeder of these birds.
